US, Pakistan Discuss Energy Security and Commercial Cooperation

ISLAMABAD(Nawaitaxila Report) US Chargé d’Affaires Baker met Federal Minister for Energy Ali Pervaiz Malik on October 26 to discuss ways to strengthen energy security and deepen cooperation between the United States and Pakistan in the energy and commercial sectors.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed opportunities to support Pakistan’s energy security amid rising demand and the need to modernise the country’s energy infrastructure. The engagement highlighted the potential role of American energy supplies and US companies’ expertise in helping Pakistan address its evolving energy needs.

The United States’ energy resources, technological capabilities, and private-sector experience could help improve Pakistan’s energy infrastructure and support the country’s long-term energy needs. Greater commercial engagement between the two countries could also create opportunities for investment, technology exchange and broader economic cooperation.

The meeting underscored the importance of a strong US-Pakistan energy partnership in advancing shared interests. Cooperation in the energy sector can contribute to economic growth, strengthen energy security and support closer commercial ties between the two countries.

Both countries have opportunities to build on existing engagement by encouraging collaboration between government institutions and private-sector stakeholders, particularly in areas that support reliable energy supplies and infrastructure modernisation.

The meeting reflects continued efforts to deepen bilateral cooperation in a sector that remains central to Pakistan’s economic development and long-term energy security.
